Prof. dr. ir. Bert Blocken
Prof. dr. ir. Bert Blocken is a professor in Civil Engineering at KU Leuven in Belgium with specific expertise in building and urban aerodynamics. He is also the CEO of the SME Anemos BV in Belgium.
He is an expert in computational fluid dynamics with over 220 peer-review journal publications, and a highly cited author by Clarivate Analytics in 2018-2022. He was named one of the 15 “Engineers that Mattered” in 2020 by Engineering.com.
He works with governments, companies and sports teams in a wide range of aerodynamic challenges, from ventilation and aircleaning against COVID19 over outdoor and indoor air pollution to cycling aerodynamics.
Mario Don Porto Carero
Mario has global responsibility for the Standard Design Platforms HVAC, Cleanrooms and Lab ventilation of J&J. Mario is an engineer with experience in overall HVAC system design, commissioning and qualification, life cycle cost and energy analysis for Labs, Chemical and Pharmaceutical production related ventilation.
He started his career in 1992, joined J&J in 1995 as a validation engineer and over the years he had different roles covering several aspects of cleanroom and HVAC systems (technical owner, project engineer, startup manager, senior manager HVAC).
Being a LEED AP and having an energy management degree, sustainability is key and fully integrated in the design process.
Mario is member of the technical committee of the Belgian Cleanroom Workclub (BCW).
He is also board member of EGNATON, the European organization for sustainable labs.
Joris De Wolf
Joris is an Industrial Pharmacist and Qualified Person with over 10 years of experience in sterile manufacturing.
Joris started his career in a pharmaceutical multinational where he led a team of operators in the sterile manufacturing department where drug product was produced using cleanroom and isolator technology. Later he was in charge of the validation program for all equipment and processes related to sterilization and aseptic processing including the aseptic process simulation testing program.
More recently, Joris is working as a consultant within eyetec. In this role he is assisting clients with supporting and improving their quality systems and also providing QP services. He has a focus on Annex 1 and supports companies in performing gap analysis and mitigations as well as assisting them in writing and implementing an effective contamination control strategy.
Marc Mauro
Marc has over 10 years’ experience in pharmaceutical microbiology as an International Technical Support Specialist and International Sales Manager in various companies involved in quality control and environmental monitoring for pharmaceutical productions.
Marc is a graduated Engineer in Microbiology with specialisations in quality control, mycology and environmental microbiology.
Throughout the years, he has gained experience in pharmaceutical environmental monitoring by helping producers in over 60 countries to implement and keep compliant microbial quality control and culture media for sterile and non-sterile Pharmaceutical, Veterinary and Medical Devices manufacturers.
Patrick Rüdelsheim
Patrick obtained his PhD in biology/botany at the University of Antwerp, Belgium. He started his career in D.J. Vanderhave B.V., a seed company based in The Netherlands, where he was involved in the application of plant cell biology in classical breeding. In 1990, he joined Plant Genetic Systems N.V., Ghent, Belgium as Field Trial Supervisor. After being in charge of Product Development and Registration, he was appointed Director Regulatory Affairs and Member of the PGS Board. In 1996, following the acquisition of PGS by AgrEvo, he became Global Head of Biotechnology Regulatory Affairs for the AgrEvo group. In this function, he ensured the scientific argumentation for Product Safety and Quality as well as the compliance with all regulatory acquirements related to genetic engineering. After the creation of Aventis S.A. due to the merger of Hoechst and Rhône-Poulenc, Patrick Rüdelsheim became Global Head Regulatory Affairs BioScience of Aventis CropScience and following the acquisition of Aventis CropScience by Bayer in 2002, he was confirmed in that position for Bayer CropScience.
In 2003, he founded and became General Partner of Perseus BVBA, a service company focused on bio-safety and related regulatory requirements. Since mid 2015, he is Senior Regulatory Advisor for ABS-int, a multi-disciplinary initiative dedicated to Access and Benefit Sharing requirements.
He lectures as guest-professor at the University of Antwerp and University of Ghent. He is one of the founders of the Belgian Biosafety Professionals (BBP), the Belgian working group of the European BioSafety Association.
Remi De Bock
Remi De Bock serves as Technical Development Manager at Alsico High Tech, driving innovation and sustainability within the cleanroom garment industry.
For over 5 years, Remi was responsible for Business Development across Asia. Based in Shanghai, he championed cleanroom garment education, emphasizing their vital role in improving production quality and workforce comfort.
One of Remi's significant achievements has been the development of CYCLOP, an innovative solution that seamlessly integrates goggles and ventilation into cleanroom suits. This breakthrough not only enhances operator comfort and safety but also aligns with the latest changes in GMP - annex 1.
Sarah Van Erdeweghe
Sarah is a project manager for the customized cooling solutions division of Equans.
She holds a Master of Mechanical Engineering degree of the KU Leuven, with a focus on thermo-technical sciences. In 2019, she successfully defended her PhD on “The optimal design and control of low-temper-ature ORC-based systems”.
From 2019 onwards, Sarah has been working for Equans for the department of industrial cooling and HVAC. Sarah’s focus has been on energy efficiency improvements related to cooling, climatization and heat pump installations. Since this year, she is a project manager for the division of customized cooling solutions. The target clients of this division are situated in the nuclear, chemical, petrochemical and pharmaceutical sectors.
Msc. Ing. Tom Vangelabbeek
Tom is an engineer is nuclear physics with a background in medical nuclear applications, nuclear engineering, and a specific expertise in project management. He is currently the project manager and responsible for the cleanroom products division @ ABN Cleanroom Technology in Belgium.
Toon Lambrechts
Toon is co-founder and Chief Sales & Marketing Officer at MyCellHub, a groundbreaking Manufacturing Execution System (MES) specialised in the digitalisation of cleanroom workflows.
With a Master's degree in Bio-engineering from KU Leuven and a Master's in Business Administration from the Grenoble Business School, Toon's journey into the world of biotechnology was sparked while working as an engineer on the development of bioreactors at Octane Biotech (later the Lonza Cocoon system). This ultimately culminated in the successful completion of his doctoral degree at the University of Leuven, focusing on large-scale cell manufacturing for cell therapies.
At the end of his PhD, Toon spun out the intellectual property for MyCellHub from the university and started the company as co-founder where he aims to fulfil his mission to democratise access to advanced cell and gene therapies by cutting biomanufacturing costs, reducing production times and simplifying quality compliance.
Nathan Decoster
Nathan is Associate Business Manager for the Mobile Validation Experts department at Advipro and has over 5 years of experience in the Cleanroom Validation field.
Nathan graduated as a Msc in Biochemistry and Biotechnology with a focus on neurodegenerative diseases with a minor in entrepreneurship and management.
As an Associate Business Manager he is responsible for the operational and financial aspects of the MoVE team as well as on-site validation support on cleanroom tests, environmental monitoring, temperature mappings, clean steam testing etc. In addition Nathan uses his experience in the field to give internal and external trainings in the GxP Academy.
